Energy & Offshore Data Collection
Collecting More Data Across Larger Areas with Reduced Cost and Risk
In the energy or offshore sectors, the demand for efficient, reliable, and lower-risk data acquisition in challenging marine environments is paramount. SeaTrac’s SP-48 USV transcends the limitations of traditional manned operations, offering a proven, uncrewed platform for persistent, 24/7 data collection and continuous streaming in offshore conditions. Whether you're conducting pipeline inspections, monitoring environmental impacts, or surveying potential development sites, count on SeaTrac to integrate with a wide variety of payloads and sensors to deliver the critical data you need.
SeaTrac Advantages
Significantly reduces at-sea risk and operational costs, while mitigating skilled worker shortages
SeaTrac USVs are remarkably affordable, offering a very low-cost solution compared to traditional crewed research or monitoring vessels.
With the ability to remain deployed for months at a time, SeaTrac USVs are ideal for large-area coverage and extended-duration missions. The system is extremely versatile, capable of operating 24/7 effectively in both nearshore and offshore environments.
Propelled by solar energy with onboard power storage, the USV produces zero emissions while sustaining both propulsion and payload requirements. The reliable self-propelled system maintains steady speeds of 3-5 knots and operates independently of wind or wave conditions. No wind or waves required.
Fleets of inexpensive SeaTrac USVs can act as a true force multiplier, replacing or supplementing costly traditional vessels for a fraction of the expense.
By removing personnel from potentially hazardous environments, SeaTrac USVs reduce risk to human operators to an absolute minimum.
The platform features generous and flexible cargo capacity to accommodate a wide variety of mission payloads. The systems are sensor-agnostic and easily adaptable, enabling seamless integration of novel or custom equipment.
Multiple redundant communication pathways – including RF, cellular, and satellite (Starlink and Iridium) – ensure continuous connectivity from virtually anywhere.
The USV’s compact, accessible design allows for simple launch, recovery, and routine maintenance operations. Compact and efficiently engineered, each unit is “right-sized” to fit in a standard 20-foot shipping container or to transport easily by trailer.
SP-48 Applications
Metocean / Weather
Gain cost-effective, real-time data on wind, air temperature, water temperature, wave height, surface / subsurface current at any remote location to improve weather and ocean models.
Hydrocarbon monitoring
Monitor the ocean surface over a wide area and around the clock to assist in oil spill response efforts.
UUV tracking
Provide position fixes for subsea vehicles such as underwater gliders, to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of collected data.
Data harvesting / Communications relay
Harvest data from undersea sensors without sending out a ship. Provide real-time, continuous access to undersea sensors or vehicles.
Hydrographic survey
Conduct cost-effective unmanned hydrographic surveys with side scan and multibeam sonar nearshore or out in exposed waters.
Passive acoustic monitoring
Obtain long-endurance, around-the-clock monitoring for whales or other mammals with hydrophones or hydrophone arrays.
Mobile Buoy
Support data collection as a mobile buoy, staying on station or relocating as mission needs change while reducing costly ship time for deployment, recovery, and service operations.
Reducing risk & cost
Offshore operations around oil and gas facilities and wind farms are complex and expensive, from pre-exploration to post-operations. Unmanned vehicles can provide an effective alternative or complement in many applications.
