Gather Accurate Data Offshore & Nearshore with Greater Efficiency, at Lower Risk
Marine scientists and researchers require modern technologies that can gather significant amounts of high-quality data in both offshore and nearshore waterways with greater efficiency and reliability, at lower risk. Breaking the barriers of traditionally powered, manned vessels, SeaTrac’s uncrewed SP-48 USV is a proven platform for long-endurance missions with 24/7 data collection and marine observation – with the option of continuous streaming. Whether you’re monitoring marine life or tracking currents, count on SeaTrac to integrate with a wide variety of payloads and sensors to deliver the intel you need.
SeaTrac Advantages
Collects more data with reduced operational costs and at-sea risk
SeaTrac USVs are remarkably affordable, offering a very low-cost solution compared to traditional crewed research or monitoring vessels.
With the ability to remain deployed for months at a time, SeaTrac USVs are ideal for large-area coverage and extended-duration missions. The system is extremely versatile, capable of operating 24/7 effectively in both nearshore and offshore environments.
Propelled by solar energy with onboard power storage, the USV produces zero emissions while sustaining both propulsion and payload requirements. The reliable self-propelled system maintains steady speeds of 3–5 knots and operates independently of wind or wave conditions. No wind or waves required.
Fleets of inexpensive SeaTrac USVs can act as a true force multiplier, replacing or supplementing costly traditional vessels for a fraction of the expense.
By removing personnel from potentially hazardous environments, SeaTrac USVs reduce risk to human operators to an absolute minimum.
The platform features generous and flexible cargo capacity to accommodate a wide variety of mission payloads. The systems are sensor-agnostic and easily adaptable, enabling seamless integration of novel or custom equipment.
Multiple communication pathways – including RF, cellular, Starlink, and satellite – ensure continuous connectivity from virtually anywhere.
The USV’s compact, accessible design allows for simple launch, recovery, and routine maintenance operations. Compact and efficiently engineered, each unit is “right-sized” to fit in a standard 20-foot shipping container or to transport easily by trailer.
SP-48 Applications
Metocean/Weather data collection
Gain cost-effective, real-time data on wind, air temperature, water temperature, wave height, surface / subsurface current at any remote location to improve weather and ocean models.
Water quality testing
Sample the surface water over large areas to monitor the impact of drainages, water treatment outflows, eelgrass health, HAB, and other human activity.
Hydrographic surveys
Conduct cost-effective unmanned hydrographic surveys with side scan and multibeam sonar nearshore or out in exposed waters. Explore our eco-friendly survey solutions.
Communications relays
Harvest data from undersea modems without sending out a ship. Gain real-time, continuous access to undersea data from fish tags.
Passive acoustic monitoring
Obtain long-endurance, around-the-clock monitoring for whales or other mammals with hydrophones or hydrophone arrays.
